Consuming News via Search Engines

Symbolbild Kolloquium

For up to 30 percent of German online news consumers, search engines are a primary channel for accessing news. But when it comes to news, studies show that search engines are biased, systematically favoring some news outlets over others. The recently introduced “Medienstaatsvertrag” is supposed to prohibit this – but the main question is what an unbiased news selection in search engines should actually look like. This talk will not give a definitive answer, but will discuss possible solutions.

In the colloquium, our fellows, working group shadows and invited speakers regularly present their research projects. Guests are welcome. For better planning, please send your registration to kolleg@cais-research.de. For directions, please see Contact.
