This session introduces our CAIS working group project on digital visibility and academic engagement of marginalized scholars. We explore how precariously positioned academics – especially women and non-binary researchers from the global majority—navigate platforms such as LinkedIn, ResearchGate, and Academia.edu. The presentation outlines the project’s aims and guiding questions, focusing on the barriers (algorithmic bias, language, employment precarity) and potential strategies for more inclusive and equitable forms of visibility.
