The project investigates the potential of gamification strategies to mitigate the impact of AI-generated fake images, integrating perspectives from psychology, human-computer interaction, gamification, media studies, and AI ethics. The study designs and evaluates a gamified prototype for inoculation against AI-generated fake images, examining whether certain designs foster higher engagement and inoculation outcomes than others. Drawing inspiration from trust-building mechanisms employed by online platforms, such as numeric ratings, written reviews, and status badges, the research explores how similar trust enhancing features can be adapted within the gamified inoculation context to enhance users’ critical evaluation of visual information.
