The effects of deepfake on media and law – a comprehensive overview of deepfake content regulation
The project takes on the conceptualization of deepfake and compares its regulation in different legislative frameworks. The work will be among the first bigger projects that directly address deepfake regulation; it will undertake reviewing constitutional and human rights, criminal law, and AI/platform regulation perspectives to outline the current state of law and how it can be improved. Furthermore, the project will also include current and potential ethical concerns pertaining to legislation on deepfake.
The project is built on a multi-methodological approach. For the conceptualization, it will use bibliometric and systemic review methods; then, for the “core” of the project, comparative legal analysis and case studies will be used.
The goal of the project is to publish the results in high IF journals and also prepare a “Deepfake White Book” where I will list all the recommendations that emerged during my study of the issue and that might be useful for policymakers.
