The lecture series “Protecting Democracy” at the Augsburg University of Applied Sciences (THA) addresses key challenges for democracy, including technological progress, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, fake news, microtargeting, and societal acceleration. It brings together experts from the social sciences and computer science to discuss current technological developments and their implications for democracy.
Within this framework, Prof. Christoph Bieber, Head of the CAIS Research Program “Digital Democratic Innovations,” will discuss together with Prof. Alessandra Zarcone, Professor of Generative AI at THA, in the lecture “AI as an Automated Communication Tool in Election Campaigns” the use of AI tools in political communication, particularly during election campaigns.
