On September 22, Besjon Cifliku, research associate in the CAIS research program “Design of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence,” will open the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung’s journalism summer school with his keynote titled “AI Support for Investigative (Data) Journalism.” His talk will explore the workflow of data journalists, typical data sources, and the challenges of working with data. Using practical examples, he will demonstrate how artificial intelligence can support journalistic research. Following the keynote, a discussion will focus on the potential of AI for the future of local journalism.

The summer school runs from September 22 to 29 and is aimed at young professionals and aspiring journalists with little or no prior experience using data or artificial intelligence in research. It is part of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung’s journalism education program for scholarship recipients and offers a wide range of workshops, including radio journalism, documentary filmmaking, writing workshops, podcast training, and print journalism.
