Artificial Intelligence and Its Political Implications – A Look at Germany, Europe, and China

As part of the event series “Digital Transformation in East Asia and Europe” organized by the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Anne Goldmann will speak on Thursday, June 12, 2025, about current AI policy developments in Germany and Europe. Her lecture will be complemented by Wendy Chang (MERICS), who will provide insights into China’s AI policy.

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:30 PM, the online event “Artificial Intelligence and its Political Implications in Germany/ Europe and China” will take place. Within the series “Digital Transformation in East Asia and Europe” hosted by the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Anne Goldmann, a researcher in the CAIS program “Digital Democratic Innovations,” will discuss the political developments of AI policy in Germany and at the European level.

The second lecture will be delivered by Wendy Chang from the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS), who will provide an insight into Chinese AI policy.
