On June 16, 2025, the University of Duisburg-Essen invites participants to the “Generative AI in Studies” event. Dr. Matthias Begenat, Head of Science Communication at CAIS, will contribute with an online lecture titled “Artificially generated, really problematic? On generative AI and the reliability of knowledge”.

The focus of his talk is on how AI-generated content challenges societal communication. The unlimited possibilities of creating synthetic content and distributing it via social media increase the risk of encountering misinformation. At the same time, generative AI is becoming an increasingly important source of scientific and political information. Matthias Begenat will explain the implications this has for the reliability of knowledge and how to deal with the resulting uncertainties.
