In the newly published edited volume “Brett- und Gesellschaftsspiele – Aktuelle Studien und spielpädagogische Ansätze” (EN: Board and Parlour Games – Current Studies and Game-Based Learning Approaches) – edited by Wiebke Waburg, Volker Mehringer, and Barbara Sterzenbach – Samuel T. Simon, former employee at CAIS, contributed to the chapter “Reflexion eines Serious Games im Bildungskontext zur Förderung kreativer Problemlösungskompetenz “ (EN: Reflection on a serious game in an educational context for promoting creative problem-solving skills.”
The chapter presents a qualitative study that examines the serious game MoonshotEDU, which can be used in educational contexts to promote creative problem-solving skills. Through interaction analysis of 360° videography, phenomena of creative problem solving and the role design between game leaders as facilitators and players were analyzed. If teachers act as neutral process facilitators, a creativity-promoting framework for iterative problem solving can be created in the game. The findings offer valuable insights into the implementation of serious games in education.
