Elections are also just an algorithm, or: On the political regulation of artificial intelligence
This article discusses the upcoming challenges for government action, which will increasingly have to deal with the consequences of the use of algorithmic systems in the future. The first part outlines the variety of political programmes and initiatives that point to a considerable differentiation in this area of “politics for the digital transformation”. The second part of the article looks at existing policy approaches that are attempting to regulate another, similarly complex subject area that, at least so far, does not involve artificial intelligence – namely the technology-oriented modernisation of electoral processes.
