Experiments were conducted to test whether participation in online discussions about political issues (here: Ban on plastic food packaging and ban on genetically modified food) has an influence on political participation (here: signing a petition and donating to political causes). It is shown that the content position of arguments that subjects were confronted with have a significant influence on participatory action.
