10. March 2023

On Thursday, 09.03.2023, and Friday, 10.03.2023, workshops will be held at CAIS and as a livestream on the topic of transparency in AI.

Organisation of an interdisciplinary workshop at CAIS
Co-organisation: Uta Bittner M.A. (HHU), Prof. Dr. Heiner Fangerau (HHU)

Transparency is a concept that currently has almost universally positive connotations: what is transparent is transparent, understandable, publicly accessible and comprehensible. From architecture to action in political spheres, transparency is seen as a positive feature and traded as a counterpart to what is concealed and inaccessible. In the context of the use of artificial intelligence, transparency has become a criterionthat algorithms should fulfil in order to be able to clarify questions of attributing responsibility and liability.

In an interdisciplinary workshop, we would like to discuss the role of transparency as a manageable criterion from historical, technical, legal, techno-philosophical and ethical perspectives.
