21. November 2022

In this interdisciplinary event, German and international journalists and academics will deal with the populist influence on democratic processes: be it through various forms of targeted digital and conventional campaigns, through populist movements or through money flows in ‘astro-turfing’ and in covert and partly illegal processes. The topic is thus at the same time the fluid transition from parliamentary democracies to authoritarian forms of rule.

On 18.11.2022, an online panel discussion on the topic series “Democracies and the Appeal of Authoritarianism” took place at 2 pm. There were interesting participants under the moderation of Dr Christoph Bieber:

Prof. Dr. Eckart Conze (Professor of Modern History at the University of Marburg), Stephan Lamby (journalist, author and producer), Katharina Nocun (author, publicist), Heidi Schulze (communication and media scientist at the LMU Munich).
