HEI-TRAIN Project Enters the Second Phase of the EIT Higher Education Initiative

The European project HEI-TRAIN successfully completed the first phase of the EIT initiative and received official confirmation for the second phase.

23. February 2026

The European project “HEI-TRAIN – HEI Transformation for Entrepreneurship and AI-Driven Innovation” successfully completed the first phase of the EIT Higher Education initiative. The official confirmation for the second implementation phase from 2026 to 2027 has now been granted. The positive results from 2025 were decisive for this. During the first phase, project partners launched key measures to promote business education and innovation at universities.

Among the most important outcomes are the programs “AI Mindset in Entrepreneurial Spaces” for teachers and “AI-Powered Entrepreneurship and Innovations” for students. They foster entrepreneurial thinking and the use of artificial intelligence for new business ideas.

In addition, the Freelancing School for Women (IFS) was established, providing women, migrants, and displaced persons with skills for self-employment and business creation.

Another major focus was the development of a cross-border partner network connecting universities, research institutions, and companies to exchange knowledge and develop new tools.

In the second phase, study programs and mentoring opportunities will be expanded. The Freelancing School for Women (IFS) plans to extend its reach, while researchers will study how artificial intelligence (AI) is used in business – especially by women and groups often underrepresented in the technology sector. Planned activities also include international conferences, innovation competitions for students, and joint research projects to strengthen collaboration between universities, research institutions, and industry.

About the Project

Partners from Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, and Ukraine are working together on the project. The team includes universities, researchers, companies, and public organizations, focusing on practical business skills and connecting classrooms, laboratories, and companies.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) supports the initiative.
