How can we stay in control in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence?

A new publication by Gerhard Vowe has appeared in Medien & Kommunikationswissenschaft.

30. January 2023

In his new book, psychologist Gerd Gigerenzer explains that the opportunities of AI are overestimated and the risks underestimated. He sees risks above all in the fact that living spaces are being geared towards AI use. He counters this with individual and collective stop rules that limit the power of tech companies. The main objections to his concept are that he underestimates the learning curve of AI, that he covers up the ambivalences of AI deployments with dichotomous evaluations and that he cannot specify a political strategy with which the required regulations could be enforced.
