How Societies Remain Resilient in Times of Crisis: Insights from Research and Practice

CAIS director Prof. Christiane Eilders will discuss strategies to strengthen societal resilience against disinformation and polarization at the International Crisis Resilience Summit of the European Institute for Safe Communication (EISC) in Altdorf, Switzerland, from September 8 to 10, 2025.

From September 8 to 10, 2025, the International Crisis Resilience Summit of the European Institute for Safe Communication (EISC) will take place in Altdorf, Switzerland. Experts from various countries and disciplines will come together to discuss measures and strategies for building a more resilient society. Prof. Christiane Eilders, Scientific Director of CAIS, will participate in the summit, which will explore strategies against disinformation, polarization, and manipulative communication, and develop recommendations for evidence-based policy advising, resilience-promoting journalism, and public protection. The focus is on the four key areas communicative resilience, digital civil protection, scientific policy advice and resilience through journalism. Participants include experts from academia, politics, and media, such as Prof. Annegret Hannawa (Switzerland), founder of EISC, Prof. Jon Roozenbeek (UK), and Prof. Brian Spitzberg (USA).
