This year’s Computer Science Day at Ruhr University Bochum will take place on February 11, 2026. The networking event offers insights into current research topics in computer science and is aimed at all RUB members, faculty members, partner companies, and othere interested participants.
A special item on the agenda for this year’s even is the inaugural lecture by Prof. Dr. Tim A. Majchrzak titled “Computing, Technology and Society: Integrated Digitalization Research Driven by Computer Science”. Since April 2025, he has held two positions simultaneously – as the new professor of Computing, Technology and Society at the Faculty of Computer Science and as scientific director at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS). His research explores technical, organizational, and social aspects of software engineering, with a particular focus on mobile computing, IoT, and edge computing.
In addition to a second inaugural lecture by Prof. Dr. Rebekah Overdorf, the event will be followed by a get-together in a relaxed atmosphere for discussion and networking.
