The Corona pandemic forced a digitalisation push among political parties. When the epidemic situation made it impossible for delegates to meet at party congresses, party organisations had to adapt quickly in order to remain able to act. In the 18 months leading up to the 2021 federal election, therefore, a total of 13 digital federal party congresses were held, which not only had to adopt election programmes but also select top candidates. How do debates in online conferences, the preparation of resolutions on a split screen or voting by mouse click change the decision-making processes in party organisations?
