Between technological progress and questions of acceptance, the use of AI avatars is being widely debated. The t3n interview with Jasmin Baake, a PhD student in the CAIS research program “Design of Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence,” addresses this topic and sheds light on opportunities, challenges, and initial practical experiences. Jasmin Baake explains in which situations these artificial, human-like representations can provide added value, which psychological effects influence users, and why trust and clear labeling of AI are crucial. She also offers insights into particularly promising application areas – from knowledge transfer and health communication (e.g., doctor consultations in waiting rooms) to political communication.
