On 23 June, Christoph Bieber takes part in a conference at the Presseclub Concordia on the independence of the ORF in Vienna. He will give a keynote speech on the situation of board supervision in Germany (independence, remoteness from the state/market, rejuvenation, digitalisation).
Introduction: The Constitutional Court is currently examining the structural independence of the ORF’s Board of Auditors and Board of Trustees – a decision that sets the course for the democratic infrastructure and the general conditions of hundreds of journalists. It is therefore also high time for a public debate that deals with the independence of the ORF in all its facets. The conference of the Legal Service Journalism will put the institutional autonomy of the ORF to the test and look for approaches to strengthen it.
