Matthias Begenat to Advise WiKoKo Research Project on Science Communication Skills

Dr. Matthias Begenat will serve on the advisory board of the “WiKoKo” project, which is developing a validated model of science communication competencies to support both research and the training of researchers.

15. December 2025

Dr. Matthias Begenat, Head of CAIS Science Communication, will in future support the research project “WiKoKo – Modeling Interdisciplinary Science Communication Skills” on the advisory board. The project, which is being realized by the National Institute for Science Communication (NaWik) in cooperation with Leibniz University Hannover and Ruhr University Bochum, is dedicated to the systematic description of the competencies necessary for successful science communication. The project is developing an empirically tested competency structure model, thereby providing an important basis for the training and continuing education of scientists in the field of science communication. The project thus contributes both to basic research and to the application-oriented assessment and promotion of competencies. The project is funded by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
