The new article by Dr Alisa Maksimova, published in the journal AI & Society, examines how museums in Germany addressed artificial intelligence (AI) in exhibitions from 2022 to 2023. The study shows that museum curators often try to critically scrutinise dominant AI narratives, but encounter considerable challenges in doing so.
The research is based on the analysis of nine AI-related exhibitions in German museums, interviews with the curatorial teams and an examination of the exhibition materials.
