On May 6, 2025, Prof. Dr. Nikol Rummel, head of the CAIS research program “Educational Technologies and Artificial Intelligence,” will participate in a project meeting organized by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The meeting, hosted by the OECD Centre for Educational Research and Innovation (CERI), focuses on “Smart Data and Digital Technology in Education” and brings together leading researchers, experts, and decision-makers from the field of digital education to discuss the opportunities and challenges of digitalization in education. The meeting aims to exchange knowledge about generative AI in education, foster peer learning, develop guidelines for the use of generative AI, and strengthen online interactions within the project community.
Nikol Rummel will be a speaker in the expert session “Generative AI in Education: Opportunities and Challenges.” Together with Prof. Mutlu Cukurova, Professor of Learning and Artificial Intelligence at University College London, she will present current research findings and discuss the potential impact of generative AI on learning, teaching, and the management of educational institutions. The session will cover both use cases for generative AI and emerging research on its effects.
