Mitra Shamsi presents at the DGPuK conference in Salzburg

On digital activism and Iranian women’s movements

On 15 November 2024, Mitra Shamsi will present her research on Iranian digital activism at the annual conference of the DGPuK Section for International and Intercultural Communication at Paris Lodron University in Salzburg.

13. November 2024

From 14 to 15 November 2024, the annual conference of the DGPuK Section for International and Intercultural Communication will take place on the topic Overcoming the Divides? Towards Global Inclusivity in Communication Studies in Times of Uncertainty at the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg.

In her contribution, Mitra Shamsi critically examines the West-centred view of the Iranian women’s movement, which often portrays it as a homogeneous movement. Her research shows how different feminist discourses manifest themselves on digital platforms that are linked to transnational feminist activism but are based on local political and cultural realities.

Further information on the conference can be found on the event page.
