At the invitation of Federal Minister Karin Prien, Prof. Christoph Bieber, research professor and head of the CAIS research program “Digital Democratic Innovations,” will participate in the symposium “Demokratie Ort: Digitale Welt” (EN: Democracy Location: Digital World). The event will take place on January 13, 2026, at the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) in Berlin.
As part of the federal program “Demokratie leben!” (EN: Live Democracy!), participants from academia, business, associations, and practice discuss how concepts of democracy education from the analog world can be successfully transferred to the digital space. The focus is also on the challenges of preventing extremism on the internet, the responsibility and role of digital platforms, and the question of how digital spaces can be used to bring democracy closer to young people in particular.
