Politechathon: Future technologies for democracy – with a focus on AI and elections

Anne Goldmann supported the Politechathon teams in developing and presenting their projects, which focussed on the interplay between AI and elections.

17. December 2024

On 14 and 15 December 2024, the first Politechathon took place at the Baden-Württemberg State Representation in Berlin. This event format combined elements of a barcamp and a hackathon to bring together experts from politics, technology and civil society. The aim was to develop practical solutions for the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of democratic elections.

In the run-up to the federal elections and the state elections in Baden-Württemberg, the focus was on topics such as dealing with deepfakes and disinformation, strengthening trust in democracy and visualising the positive potential of generative AI. The Politechathon focussed on citizen-centred approaches to reduce fears of new technologies and promote democratic resilience.

As a mentor, Anne Goldmann supported this interdisciplinary event and worked with the participants on concrete ideas and solutions – from technical tools and innovative political formats to concepts for knowledge transfer.

The Politechathon was organised by the Baden-Württemberg Foundation in cooperation with the AI4Democracy impact alliance.
