Digitalization research examines profound social transformation processes – from algorithmic systems to education to legal frameworks. To do this complexity justice, more than disciplinary expertise is needed: transdisciplinary approaches are both the epistemic foundation and the driving force behind social effectiveness.
At Partwiss 2025, which takes place in Leipzig from November 12 to 14, Dr. Josephine B. Schmitt, scientific coordinator at CAIS, as well as Dr. André Ullrich and Claudia Oellers from the Weizenbaum Institute, invite visitors to explore the opportunities, challenges, and requirements of transdisciplinary digitalization research at an interactive marketplace booth. They will combine input elements (e.g., speed pitches) with co-creative formats. Participants will be able to visualize their ideas about transdisciplinary digitalization research using a zine – a collage-like mini-magazine that creates space for creative expression and sparks in-depth discussions. The zine is a form of expression for reflections on transdisciplinary digitalization research and a medium for making implicit forms of knowledge and possible power relations visible.
PartWiss is a new conference for networking and strengthening participation in science, which has been held annually since 2022 and is designed as a practice-oriented and interactive forum. The central theme of the conference is “Researching together – impulses from citizen science, participatory and transdisciplinary research” (translated from German: “Gemeinsam forschen – Impulse aus Citizen Science, partizipativer und transdisziplinärer Forschung”).
