This year’s 26th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction (HCII) took place in Washington D.C. from 29 June to 4 July. As an amalgamation of 21 international sub-conferences, topics such as adaptive systems, AI and design were discussed at the conference under the common heading of “Human-Computer Interaction”. Katharina Teich presented her research in the session track “Designing Learning and Teaching Experiences”.
In her presentation, Katharina Teich showed how a user-centred, adaptive support system for online-supported adult continuing education was developed in a research project together with and under the direction of Prof. Nikol Rummel. The focus here was on answering two central research questions: (1) How do adults learn in such contexts and what special challenges do they face? and (2) How can we offer adaptive support here? As a result, an adaptive support system was presented that specifically responds to difficulties in self-regulated learning.
