This year’s vhs.Digitaltag on the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will take place on November 15, 2025, at Volkshochschule Dortmund. The event opens with a keynote by Pauline Heger, research associate within the CAIS research program “Digital Democratic Innovations.” In her presentation “Intelligenter Verbrauch? KI zwischen Ressourcenhunger und Nachhaltigkeitsversprechen” (EN: Smart Consumption? AI Between Resource Hunger and Sustainability Promises), she addresses the resource demands of AI and raises the question of how this can be reconciled with sustainable development.

The vhs.Digitaltag, organized by the VHS Dortmund in cooperation with the Fachhochschule Dortmund, combines the topics of digitality and sustainability and addresses the question of the responsible use of data, knowledge, and technologies as the tools for a fair, efficient, and sustainable world. In presentations, workshops, and live demos, experts will show how digitalization is shaping our lives and how it can be designed in a smart, social, and sustainable way.
