With the acceleration of digital developments, the importance of digital policy issues in the parties’ election programmes has also increased. The impact of the Corona pandemic has additionally driven the discussion on the political shaping of digitalisation. Against this background, the article reflects on the development of German digital policy to date and places the 2021 federal election in this context. The classification is based on the content-analytical evaluation of election programmes, the parties represented in the Bundestag and their positioning in the Bitkomat election tool.
