Tiktoker makes fun of German habits

Airing the house, taking away deposits or separating rubbish - more or less typical German habits are a hit on social media. A British tiktoker uploaded his first video on the subject three years ago.

British TikTok influencer Liam Carpenter has gained around 2.2 million followers in the last three years with his humorous videos about German habits, such as airing the house and separating rubbish. As part of a social media phenomenon, other influencers, even if they are not from Germany, are also humorously poking fun at German idiosyncrasies. Our research coordinator Dr Josephine B. Schmitt explains the success of the trend through the sense of belonging and the humorous portrayal.
