The CAIS research programme “Transformation of Digital Democratic Discourses” (T3D) will present multiple contributions at the 76th Annual International Communication Association (ICA) Conference. In addition, the researchers are organizing a DGPuK panel on polarization in the climate discourse. The conference will take place from 4 to 8 June 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa.
On February 5, 2026, Henri Mütschele and his co-authors present their conference contribution “Qualität oder Quantität? Wie Nachrichtennutzungsmuster und Klimaschutz-Argumentrepertoires in den Vereinigten Staaten, Spanien und Deutschland zusammenhängen” (EN: Quality or quantity? How news usage patterns and climate action argument repertoires are related in the United States, Spain, and Germany) at the DGPuK division conference “Communication & Politics” in Hamburg.
At the International Communication Association (ICA) Conference 2026 in Cape Town, CAIS researchers are organizing the DGPuK session. The panel “Inter- and Intra-Group Polarization Dynamics in the Climate Discourse: A Mixed-Method Perspective” examines polarization in the German climate discourse as well as inter- and intra-group dynamics from a mixed-methods perspective, bringing current research from Germany into international exchange.
On 20 and 21 November 2025, the second round of the workshop “Polarization: Conceptualization and Methodological Approaches” at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies will continue the work of the Polarization Research Network: Researchers will discuss the current state of their research projects, address methodological and conceptual challenges, and strengthen networking within the community.
On November 5, Prof. Christiane Eilders took part in the Parliamentary Breakfast of the NRW State Parliament, hosted by Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf.
