AI-based text generation programmes have undergone massive development in recent years. The chat dialogue program ChatGPT was the last major breakthrough in this area.

As learners begin to use AI-generated texts as the basis for their own writing, Anna Radtke investigates how exactly learners use AI-generated texts as a template for their own academic texts and how they revise them before submission. Furthermore, Anna Radtke investigates what benefits learners can gain from interacting with AI-generated texts and whether revising AI-generated texts has a positive impact on learners’ individual revision and writing skills. The development of the NLP-based feedback tool to support text revision is being carried out in cooperation with the UKP laboratory at TU Darmstadt under the direction of Prof Dr Gurevych.
