Based on previous models of technology acceptance, this project aims to shed light on different dimensions of citizen acceptance that are specific to the implementation of green innovations in urban areas. The focus will go beyond product acceptance and focus on the societal and processual implications of an imminent and radical transformation of urban infrastructure. As democratic societies are increasingly subject to this radical structural change due to the further expansion of infrastructure, citizens as core users of these innovations must not be ignored. At the same time, we often experience social resistance to even small changes. The question of how this gap can be bridged served as the inspiration for this work.

The current focus of the project is to create a solid theoretical basis for the construction of a model. This will be achieved by conducting a systematic literature review. By comprehensively analysing existing scientific papers, the project aims to gather relevant knowledge and insights. The literature review will serve as a crucial milestone in the development of an effective and robust model for the project objectives.

The PhD project will be supervised by Prof Dr Sven Engesser at TU Dresden. The project will be carried out cumulatively and empirically.
