The causes, forms, and consequences of societal polarization are currently being studied empirically from many perspectives. We are building a network of German-speaking researchers on this topic, which meets regularly to exchange ideas and plans joint projects in the field of digital communication.
The project examines both blame assignments in the media discourse on societal polarization and the suitability of artificial intelligence for studying them.
The dissertation project has the working title “Mapping the social acceptance of green innovation in urban spaces” and draws its theoretical background from the fields of communication sciences, human-technology interaction and psychology.
The doctoral project deals with questions that thematise the relationship between politics and artificial intelligence. German developments, understood as part of a multi-level political system, are at the centre of the various contributions.
In the dissertation project “Empathy in decision-making: digital versus non-digital contexts”, Niklas Frechen wants to research the emotional and cognitive components of decision-making in a comparison between analogue and digital contexts, with a particular focus on empathy.
