Ann-Christin Falhs

Digital learning systems have been used in recent years and their impact on learning has been widely studied. However, comparatively little is known about teachers’ expectations and how teachers use these environments. As the use of digital technologies in the classroom is a future-facing building block in schools that all teachers face, we need to better understand teachers’ needs. In her dissertation, Ann-Christin Falhs analyses the purposes for which teachers want to use digital learning systems and how much automation is expected and accepted. She also investigates which functions teachers find helpful in promoting decision-making processes and adapting their teaching to the learning group or different teaching phases. The aim is to develop a better and more informed understanding of when, for what and to what extent teachers are willing to plan their lessons with digital learning systems. On this basis, targeted interventions are to be developed to improve the acceptance, integration and implementation of digital learning systems in teaching practice.
