Erziehungswissenschaft

Sebastian Strauß

Science and maths lessons are about confronting learners with scientific explanations for phenomena.

Over time, learners acquire new knowledge about natural phenomena and scientific practices in various scientific fields. Research on STEM education describes these individual learning processes as “learning pathways”. Together with partners from STEM education and learning analytics, Dr Strauß is investigating how learners’ knowledge networks develop over time(see ALICE project). The aim of the project is to determine the characteristics of productive and less productive learning trajectories, to investigate the mechanisms behind these trajectories and finally to develop didactic support for learners.
