The discussion addresses the need for ethical, value-based approaches in research on digital transformation. The discussion will critically examine how values shape knowledge production and how research on digitalization can contribute to transformative societal change. We welcome contributions from epistemological, regulatory, and practical perspectives.
1) What does it mean to conduct value-based, ethical research on digital transformation? What principles should we follow when carrying out research, for example when choosing topics and theoretical and methodological approaches?
2) What is needed for our research to have an impact and result in changes towards a fairer, more sustainable and equitable world?
3) Which values should be prioritized? Which are the most relevant and urgent? Which values might conflict with each other?
4) How should general ethical principles and values be implemented in research on digital transformation? What is distinctive about values in the context of digitalization research?
