These three days (March 19-21) of collective work aim to bring together a diverse group of IBSA experts, ranging from representatives from civil society, academia, policymaking and survivors‘ experiences, to elaborate fresh definitions and data regarding online gender-based violence and envision more inclusive and gender-sensitive technological, political and educational solutions. The collective effort will culminate in the production of a policy recommendation report intended for submission to the European Union lawmakers, academia and media.
The most relevant expected outputs of the working group are:
- Synthesization of various conceptualizations of the IBSA issue from multiple disciplines to arrive at a comprehensive definition that incorporates all relevant dimensions.
- Elaboration of an updated short report containing relevant European data on the phenomenon, including more recent phenomena such as deep fake pornography and generative AI-mediated gender-based violence.
- Creating public awareness of the issue to support survivors and existing NGOs work.
- Production of a policy document addressed to the EU Institution containing recommendations on IBSA policies that look at education programs, media literacy, tech regulation and the gender-based violence directive within a digital rights approach.
