The Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) took part in today’s exchange between Federal Minister Dorothee Bär and the Network of Institutes for Digitalization Research (NIfD) at the Weizenbaum Institute.
On January 22, 2026, Dr. Josephine B. Schmitt will give a lecture on “Deceptively Real, Socially Impactful? Deepfakes Between Concern, Trust, and Future Narratives” as part of the conference “Between Participation and Silencing – The Ambivalence of Online Discussions and Their Consequences” organized by the “Media Reception and Effects” division of the German Association of Communication (DGPuK) at the University of Klagenfurt.
At the third Digitalisation Research and Network Meeting (DigiMeet), over 60 international early-career researchers discussed the regulation, societal impact, and technological governance of digital platforms.
In the current issue of “Neue Narrative” (EN: New Narratives), Dr. Josephine B. Schmitt contributes some thoughts on Paul Fenski’s essay “Um die Demokratie zu retten, müssen Progressive vom Erfolg der AfD lernen” (EN: To Save Democracy, Progressives Must Learn from the Success of the AfD).
