Learning processes in the context of digitalisation – current findings from large-scale assessments

The symposium at the GEBF conference on "Understanding Education - Achieving Participation - Shaping Transfer" at the University of Potsdam provided an exciting insight into current empirical research findings on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and the associated learning opportunities for young people both inside and outside the school context.

Prof. Nikol Rummel spoke at the GEBF 2024 in Potsdam as a discussant in the symposium: “Learning processes in the context of digitalisation – current findings from large-scale assessments” (Chair: Leonard Tetzlaff (DIPF, ZIB), Frank Goldhammer (DIPF, ZIB). The papers presented focussed on various perspectives, including the integration of digital media in school teaching and learning processes, the use of ICT in school and leisure time and the promotion of self-directed learning processes in digital environments.

Particular attention was paid to the acquisition of ICT skills and the connection between the use of digital media and self-assessment of one’s own ICT skills.

These findings provide important impulses for the design of educational processes and the promotion of digital competences among young people.
